Work / Architecture Portfolio / MEZZO PARK

Spring 2022

Location: San Diego, California

Typology: Neighborhood to Urban Scale Park

Situated on the Normal Street median, Mezzo Park acts as the “middle ground” for all demographics of different backgrounds to gather in a shared space to accommodate the various activities at any time of the year. These include events such as the weekly Farmers’ Market, the annual Pride Parade, as well as residents’ daily errands. Designed amenities are accompanied by a computationally designed rattan structure, a cultural nod to the Mexican and Filipino migrants of the area. The project expands on a larger city scale to connect to San Diego’s 1,200-acre historic Balboa Park.
