An ecological park system connected by a yellow ribbon path with integrated sustainability features such as solar panel handrails, green roofs, and retention ponds. Constructed entirely from recycled materials, this proposal for the Third Ward’s 83-acre McGregor Park is a holistic urban ecological infrastructure system that establishes a net-zero spatial, agricultural, and infrastructural network to mitigate the community’s challenges including repeated flooding and periodic droughts, lack of nearby nutritious food sources, limited transportation options and access to open green spaces. The organization is inspired by bacterial forms on a petri dish and its naturally efficient formation.
