Fall 2022

Location: Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Typology: Installation

In the aftermath of the Bosnian war, citizens looked at ways to adapt and skilfully utilize everyday items in place of what was lost as a powerful way to reclaim what is theirs—a concept known as destructive metamorphosis. This installation takes place at a ruin that acts as a common gathering place for all citizens despite political differences. Applying the concept of destructive metamorphosis amidst ruin, the modular system enables community and collaboration through flexible spaces that can host maker spaces, outdoor markets, meditation spaces, and artist talks. A cyclical healing process of interaction, reflection, and collaborative response is designed for the people and by the people.
